Gina Owens
Board Chair/Founding Executive Director
Gina founded Blessings in the Horizon after her journey with breast cancer started in 2011. Her desire to help those during their cancer journey led to the formation of this great organization. Gina was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She received her undergraduate degree in Accounting and Masters degree in Business administration from Lipscomb University. She has worked in finance and administration for twenty-seven years at Vanderbilt University. Gina has been married to her husband, Eric for twenty-seven years and they have two children, Brittany and Connor.
Tara McGriff
Secretary
Tara is a Regional Compliance Specialist with Sound Physicians where she has worked for eight years. She is a certified professional medical auditor (CPMA) and a certified professional coder (CPC). Tara and her husband, Michael, live in Rockvale, Tennessee with their two children.
Reed Vega
Treasurer
Reed Vega is a Certified Public Accountant and works within the Internal Audit department at HCA Healthcare’s corporate office in Nashville, TN. Prior to joining HCA, Reed studied at Freed-Hardeman University where Reed earned both his undergraduate degree in Accounting and his Master’s Degree of Business Administration. Reed and his wife, Caitlyn, live in Brentwood, TN.
Lisa Hunt
Lisa Hunt is a Property Accountant with H.G. Hill Realty Co, LLC. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Lipscomb University. Previously she was CFO at the College of Central Florida Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to financially support college programs and provide scholarships to students. She also worked at Vanderbilt University for 24 years in finance and administration. Lisa and her husband Derek live in Smyrna, TN. Her daughter Tara, her husband and children live in Murfreesboro, TN.
Karise Cheatham
Karise is a Benefits Administrative Senior Specialist for Conduent, Inc. He role is to assist employees of their clients with their health and group benefits as well as 401K benefits. Karise received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Lipscomb University. As a former caregiver during her late husband's cancer journey, Karise brings a wealth of experience and passion to the organization. She and her husband, Terry, were married for twenty-nine years prior to his passing. She and her two sons, daughter, and son-in-law all live in Nashville, Tennessee.
